FAQ

Where will our session take place?

There are several options for your session and I would love to visit with you about your expectations or style you are desiring. I mostly do on-location shoots with natural light. I have several favorite spots around town. Even within those favorites, the season and time of day that your session is scheduled can make a huge difference. I am always open to suggestions but if you don't have any ideas at all then I will certainly be happy to suggest what I think might work best for the time your particular session is scheduled.

How would you describe your style?

I like to keep things real! Sometimes you will have a perfectly posed picture with everyone cooperating and others you will have genuine moments that capture your quirks perfectly! I will help guide with poses but it's not a hard and fast rule and love to work with the moment. I try to keep things as light hearted as possible. If you have young children, you may even see me act embarrassingly goofy, complete with animal sounds and balancing things on my head (for all parents who have witnessed my crazy- I'm sorry!). I am a lover of bright and vibrant so I don't use a lot of photoshop to change tones.

If I had to sum up my style, I would like to say natural, bright, and light-hearted!

How long is a typical session and how many pictures can I expect?

A regular session is typically about an hour. During that hour I usually take around 500-800 pictures. I like to click the camera fast, especially with children, to ensure eyes are not closed or hoping to capture that exact moment. You will never see all of the images I actually take. I will pick and edit what I feel are the best and your proofing gallery will usually be around 75-125 pictures.

How many locations and outfit changes are included in a session?

I usually try to stay at one location but choose locations that have more than one background option. If more than one location or wardrobe change is desired, I will be more than happy to work with you and will go to as many places and do as many outfit changes that we can fit into an hours time! If you are wanting more than that, there may be an additional charge for the session fee.

What should I wear?

I get this question all of the time! I actually think the best answer is to dress comfortably and not in something you wouldn't normally wear! You want to capture who YOU are and what looks best on you!

That being said, I love color! When clients come with pops of color, their photographs really seem to stand out! One quick note about color though, I would think about the color scheme of where you are planning to display your photos. For example, If you are scheduling a session for a little girl and want to hang pictures in her pink room, you wouldn't want her wearing orange or red. You would want your color scheme to compliment where you plan to display your photos. Everyone in your group does not also have to match and wear the same color. Pick complimenting colors. You can find a vast variety of examples on Pinterest!

For babies, if you are dressing a baby, there are so many cute outfits that are actually hard to photograph in. You want to be able to see their sweet face so make sure to do a trial run to see if it billows up in front of their face when sitting or being propped up. One example that I usually have problems with are overalls. Save those type outfits for when they can hold weight on their legs and you can pull it down off their face!

Do you edit pictures?

In short, yes. Before you ever see your proofs I will go through all of the images taken during your session and will weed it down to the favorites. I will then edit each one with a simple edit which mostly consists of a little pop of color and cropping. I don't usually do major touch-ups unless requested and depending on the request, there may be an additional fee for the amount of editing required.

How long does it take to get my proofs and what is the turn around time for prints and products?

My turn around time from the day of your session to the day you will be able to view your proofs typically runs about a week. I try to get them to you as quickly as possible and sometimes you may have your proofs within days! Peak seasons may have just a tad slower turnaround (peak seasons are September-November and March-April).

After you place an order, prints and products usually take about 7-10 days to come in. For digital options, you have the option to download images immediately. I can also have a CD with all images to you within a couple of days and a custom USB with keepsake box takes closer to 7-10 days.

How do I pay? Do you accept Credit Card

Your session fee is due at the time of your session. This includes your session time, editing of pictures, and proofing gallery. Payment for any prints and products are due before or at the time of delivery. You may pay cash, check, Venmo, Pay Pal or credit card via Pay Pal! You do not have to have a Pay Pal account for a one time credit card transaction.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Occasionally I will offer a special event for mini sessions. These events are usually themed and each event will have a special discounted offer. You can stay in the loop with these events by following my Facebook page or signing up with your email for the newsletter to stay informed!
